Royal Caribbean - Independence of the Seas - Our REVIEW

We recently set sail on a 3-day Bahamian cruise aboard Royal Caribbean Cruise Line's Independence of the Seas departing from Port Canaveral, Florida.  Our review is for this specific cruise only. Our boarding time was scheduled for 11:00am on embarkation day so we decided to head down to Florida a day early to avoid missing our cruise.  We stayed at the Hyatt Place Hotel in Titusville, Florida which is about 20-30min from Port Canaveral.  It made for an easy commute to Port Canaveral. Fun Fact: Embarkation is the process of loading a passenger ship    On the morning of our cruise, we left our hotel at 10:00am which turned out to be the perfect time to get us to the boarding station at 11:00am.  As we crossed the Martin Andersen Beachline Expressway, our excitement level went through the roof at seeing the various cruise ships in port.      Our terminal was Terminal 1, which is Royal's main terminal at Port Canaveral.  The signage at the port was good at getting us to the right

Walt Disney World Resort - Know Before You Go!

With the phased re-opening of the Walt Disney Resort fast approaching, we wanted to share the new rules, guidelines and way of life at the Most Magical Place on Earth.  Visit our site for more up-to-date information.

July 11, 2020 marks the re-opening of Magic Kingdom Park and Epcot.  Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom Park will re-open on July 15, 2020.

Here's what you need to know...Guiding Principles

Enhanced Cleaning

Cleaning procedures will be enhances throughout Walt Disney World Resort.  Extra attention will be given to high-traffic areas, including public elevators and escalators, handrails, benches, tables, handles, restrooms and more.  Additionally, housekeeping services will be modified at Disney Resort hotels to include enhanced cleaning and reduced contact.

Physical Distancing

Temporary adjustments will be in place to promote physical distancing.  Please follow directional signage and ground markings, which have been installed throughout the Resort to help guests better navigate common areas while practicing physical distancing.  Physical barriers have been added in select places where it is difficult to maintain strict physical distancing guidelines.  These may be visible in areas around cash registers or at Guest Relations, for example, to help ensure proper distance between people.  Cast Members are being trained to engage with Guests and promote physical distancing guidelines in common areas and queues.

Reduced Contact

Experiences may be modified in order to reduce contact.  It is recommended all Guests use cashless payment options, including debit cards, credit cards, and Disney gift cards.  Guests can also opt for contactless payment options - such as mobile wallets - or use cash to purchase a Disney gift card at Guest Relations and select merchandise locations.  Disney Resort hotel Guests can also use MagicBands to charge their purchases to their Disney Resort hotel folio.

Here's what you need to know...Important Information

Park Reservations

Park attendance will be managed via the Disney Park Pass reservation system.  To enter a park, both a park reservation and valid admission for the same park on the same date are required for Guests ages 3 and up.  The number of Disney Park Pass reservation days you can hold at one time varies based on your plans.  Disney Resort and other select hotel Guests with valid theme park admission can make reservations for their length of stay.  Annual Passholders can make theme park reservations for up to 3 days at a time or for their length of stay if staying at a Disney Resort or other select hotel.  Existing ticket holders can make reservations for the number of days of valid theme park admission.  View park reservation availability online prior to purchasing tickets.

Face Coverings

Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up) and Cast Members.  Please bring your own face coverings and wear them at all times, except when dining or swimming.  Face coverings should fully cover the noose and mouth and allow the Guest to remain hands-free, fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face, be secured with ties or ear loops, be made of breathable material, either disposable or reusable.  Costume masks are not considered appropriate and are prohibited from being worn.  The use of face coverings is not a substitute for physical distancing.

Temperature Screenings

Temperature screenings may be required for entry to some locations.  Upon arrival at Disney Springs area or at the Walt Disney World theme parks, you may undergo a temperature screening with no-touch thermometers.  Based on guidance from health authorities, anyone displaying a temperature of 100.4 or above will be directedt to an additional location for rescreening and assistance.  Those with temperatures 100.4F or above will not be allowed entry; those in their party will not be allowed entry either.  Before you leave home, be sure to check the temperatures of everyone in your party - including yourself - as an extra layer of precaution.

MyDisney Experience App

Make the most of the magic with the MyDisney Experience app.  We strongly recommend that you have the latest version of the app on your mobile device, with location services and notifications enabled.  Use the mobile order service for dining at select locations to order ahead.  Scan codes at select restaurants for digital menus.  Check-in online at Disney Resort hotels.

Important Information

Upon reopening, theme parks, Disney Resort hotels, restaurants, attractions, experiences and other offerings may be modified and will be limited in capacity and subject to limited availability or closure, based on direction from health experts and government officials to promote physical distancing.

Additionally, attractions, experiences (such as shows, parades and fireworks), services and amenities may have limited availability or may remain closed. We will provide more information as it becomes available. We reserve the right to cancel any reservations, admission media or purchases and provide applicable refunds.
