Royal Caribbean - Independence of the Seas - Our REVIEW

We recently set sail on a 3-day Bahamian cruise aboard Royal Caribbean Cruise Line's Independence of the Seas departing from Port Canaveral, Florida.  Our review is for this specific cruise only. Our boarding time was scheduled for 11:00am on embarkation day so we decided to head down to Florida a day early to avoid missing our cruise.  We stayed at the Hyatt Place Hotel in Titusville, Florida which is about 20-30min from Port Canaveral.  It made for an easy commute to Port Canaveral. Fun Fact: Embarkation is the process of loading a passenger ship    On the morning of our cruise, we left our hotel at 10:00am which turned out to be the perfect time to get us to the boarding station at 11:00am.  As we crossed the Martin Andersen Beachline Expressway, our excitement level went through the roof at seeing the various cruise ships in port.      Our terminal was Terminal 1, which is Royal's main terminal at Port Canaveral.  The signage at the port was good at getting us to the right

Single Rider Lines...Just as good as FastPass

Whether you're visiting the parks by yourself or as a couple willing to ride separately, single rider lines are the way to go.

Most people take advantage of FastPass at kiosks or on their mobile app which is perfectly fine and actually a great idea.  But also take a moment to consider what single rider lines could do for you.

On my recent trip to the Disneyland Resort, I took a shot and bypassed the FastPass kiosks, for the most part, and headed straight for the single rider lines.  Mind you that not every ride offers single riders and you will have to use FastPasses to enjoy the other rides if you want to bypass the wait.

The single rider attractions I visited were averaging wait times of 60-90 minutes for the standby line.  For instance, at the Indiana Jones Adventure ride, the wait time was 65 minutes according to the app.  The single rider line got me on in about 15 minutes.

Single rider lines do separate you from your family and friends, but only for the amount of time it takes to ride the ride plus a few minutes in line.

TIP: I would not recommend this for families with younger riders, because you will be separated from those youngsters for 10-20 minutes at least.  It is always a good idea to get a FastPass or stand in the standby line if you have small children.

Single rider lines are used by Disney to feel empty seats on attractions when a family or friends from the standby or FastPass line don't want to be separated.  If there is an empty seat, Disney will pull from the single rider line to feel that seat and therefore get more people through the ride than if they didn't.

It's a great way to bypass those long standby line waits especially if there are no FastPasses available.

Give it a shot on your next Disney trip and see what you think.
