Royal Caribbean - Independence of the Seas - Our REVIEW

We recently set sail on a 3-day Bahamian cruise aboard Royal Caribbean Cruise Line's Independence of the Seas departing from Port Canaveral, Florida.  Our review is for this specific cruise only. Our boarding time was scheduled for 11:00am on embarkation day so we decided to head down to Florida a day early to avoid missing our cruise.  We stayed at the Hyatt Place Hotel in Titusville, Florida which is about 20-30min from Port Canaveral.  It made for an easy commute to Port Canaveral. Fun Fact: Embarkation is the process of loading a passenger ship    On the morning of our cruise, we left our hotel at 10:00am which turned out to be the perfect time to get us to the boarding station at 11:00am.  As we crossed the Martin Andersen Beachline Expressway, our excitement level went through the roof at seeing the various cruise ships in port.      Our terminal was Terminal 1, which is Royal's main terminal at Port Canaveral.  The signage at the port was good at getting us to the right

Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotels

Deciding on whether to stay at a Good Neighbor hotel on your next Disneyland Resort?

Here's what I learned from my latest adventure.

While, at first, I was skeptical staying in an off-site hotel, I had to pause and think...Disney would not give them a "Good Neighbor" title unless they upheld the values of Disney and the guest experience Disney is known for.

So with that, I decided to stay at the Best Western Plus Park Place Inn - Mini Suites.  This hotel was quiet literally located across the street from the entrance to the Disneyland Resort.  With a quick 30 second walk across Harbor Boulevard and another 5 minute stroll to the security check point, you could be at the entrance to either park in about 5-10 minutes depending on the crowds.

The hotel itself is not much to look at from the street, but the lobby was inviting.  Since I was there to visit Disneyland, I didn't mind all of the Disney memorabilia, but someone there for different purposes might.  But you really wouldn't be staying in these close proximity hotels and not go to Disneyland, so there's that.

The room was surprisingly updated and comfortable.  It was typical of a "regular" hotel (i.e. no Disney amenities), but it was clean and fairly spacious.  I found it easy to settle in and begin enjoying why I was there...to visit the Disneyland Resort.  And seeing that most of my time would be spent in the parks and not my hotel room, that is another reason I opted for a good neighbor hotel...to save a little money.

Every morning, the cleaning staff came in and did their thing and always left the room looking and feeling as if I just arrived.  I always looked forward to coming back to the room at the end of the day knowing it was going to be clean and ready for a good nights rest.

While the hotel itself did not have a restaurant located inside, there were several restaurants located within walking distance of the hotel.  One such restaurant was Captain Kidd's located next door which teamed up with the Best Western to offer free buffet style breakfast every morning.  This was a great way to start the day.

All in all, I would say that the Best Western experience was great and I would definitely stay there again if I opted to not stay on-site and save a little money.

I could only assume the other Disney Good Neighbor hotels located in the area offer the same great experience, but having not stayed there, I can only assume.
