Royal Caribbean - Independence of the Seas - Our REVIEW

We recently set sail on a 3-day Bahamian cruise aboard Royal Caribbean Cruise Line's Independence of the Seas departing from Port Canaveral, Florida.  Our review is for this specific cruise only. Our boarding time was scheduled for 11:00am on embarkation day so we decided to head down to Florida a day early to avoid missing our cruise.  We stayed at the Hyatt Place Hotel in Titusville, Florida which is about 20-30min from Port Canaveral.  It made for an easy commute to Port Canaveral. Fun Fact: Embarkation is the process of loading a passenger ship    On the morning of our cruise, we left our hotel at 10:00am which turned out to be the perfect time to get us to the boarding station at 11:00am.  As we crossed the Martin Andersen Beachline Expressway, our excitement level went through the roof at seeing the various cruise ships in port.      Our terminal was Terminal 1, which is Royal's main terminal at Port Canaveral.  The signage at the ...

Disney has come a long way since the original opening of the Magic Kingdom back in 1971.  From the addition of new attractions and rides to the refurbishment of classic attractions and rides to the newest advancement in ticketing technology...Magic Bands.

The days of purchasing a paper ticket are gone.  The new Magic Band technology transforms the traditional paper ticket into an electronic one and places it into a wristband that you wear.

The Magic Bands contain an RFI chip encoded with a unique number assigned to your account and more specifically you.  No information is actually stored on the band.  When you approach the park entrance, simply put your Magic Band up to one of the scanners and the system checks your number against your account and confirms you have access to that park and returns a green light for you to enter the park.  It's that easy.

So now that you know about the new "park ticket" itself and how it works, lets look at the different options available with your ticket.

The "base" ticket that Disney offers is called the Magic Your Way Ticket.  It is a standard ticket to any one park for one day admission.  Disney has recently implemented variable pricing for one days tickets.  If purchasing single day tickets, depending on the day of your travel, prices will vary.  From there, you can add on to it with these different options:

1.)  Additional Days - The more days you add, the less it cost per day.
2.)  Park Hopper - This feature lets you visit every park (excluding the water parks) on the same day.
3.)  Park Hopper Plus - For the length of "base" ticket you purchase (i.e. 4 days) you can visit any one of these additional attractions each day with the exception of 1-day tickets where you receive 2 visits only:
       -Blizzard Beach
       -Typhoon Lagoon
       -ESPN Sports Complex
       -Oak Trail Golf Course
       -Fantasia Miniature Golf Course
       -Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course
4.)  Memory Maker - This feature lets you take all of the pictures you want using Disney's photographers located throughout the resort and also capture pictures taken on rides and at select dining locations.  You walk away with digital copies of every picture with no need to buy individual pictures.

So now that you know all about tickets at the Walt Disney World Resort...what will you choose?
